Introduction on iSetup

Migration can be done in three ways. They are

1) Manual
2) FNDLOAD commands
3) iSetup

One of the easiest method is iSetup.
iSetup is a part of E-business suite used for Migration...
Migration of data and setup informations between instances.

Migration is a four step process
1) Creating a Selection Set
2) Extract
3) Transform  (Optional)
4) Load
Migration Process
Prerequisites:
1) All the instances which undergo migration should be in same version and patch set level.
2) Each instance to be mapped must have the same, valid user.
3) The User should be given access to iSetup Resposibility to perform Migration.

For Migration 2 Instances are enough if there is no need of transformation. Otherwise we need to use a central Instance inbetween Source Instance and Target Instance.Instance Mapping has to be done.

iSetup helps to migrate data for the following applications:
1) Oracle Application Object Library (AOL)
2) Oracle Financials
3) Oracle Human Resources Management System

Advantages :
1) User Friendly Interface.
2) No Need of Technical Knowledge.
3) Saves lot of time and effort.
4) Manual Way is error prone process and this can be avoided using iSetup.
5) No need to remember the FNDLOAD Commands.
6) Since iSetup is a part of Ebiz no need of separate licensing.

Limitations:
1) Only Supported by few modules.
2) Cannot migrate between 2 separate versioned instances.
